The artist, referencing the title of the exhibition, brings into its space the brightest of stars — the sun, which is an essential element of the circularity of rural life. Before we began looking at clocks, it was the sun that set the daily rhythm. It initiated and organized everyday activities, determined the time for work, rest, and sleep. It gave life its natural rhythm, and its red rays served as a reminder that the day was drawing to a close. In ancient beliefs, in order to better understand nature, people attributed human qualities to it, and the sun was imagined as a being with eyes and a face. Here it gazes down at us from above, reminding us of our relationship with nature and matter. The work is made from linen flax, a material whose processing requires precise, repetitive gestures. This awareness symbolically protects, evokes, and preserves the memory of the invisible labor of women in rural households.
